What Does the Research Say About Technology's Impact on Education?
Technology today has helped improve the efficiency of education today. Single handedly, computers have eliminated the use of mathematical slide rules, typewriters, and library card rolodexes. To begin, the internet is the most widely used tool to research information, pictures and audio. The world wide web (which was introduced to universities almost 15 years ago) has proven that students can access information through databases more efficiently by using an automated search query. Ever since the introduction of online courses, the internet has made distant learning possible for students to get an education without ever leaving their home. This is beneficial for people who work full-time, because they no longer have to travel to school, and this also cuts on commuting costs. It is critical that students learn about technology and computers as early as kindergarten, this is so they will be able to efficiently benefit from this rapidly advancing technological age of super computers.
